Chicken Winging
The main cause of tennis elbow
In the downswing, actually at the impact area, if we loss of extension of the lead elbow (right elbow for left handed players), than we have Chicken Wing. With this swing characteristic it is difficult to develop speed of the club head, and we tends to put excessive force on the outside of the elbow joint.
If we want to avoid chicken winging must develope strenght in the lead arm and flexibility in the lead side shoulder. Also, if we have Over The Top swing characteristic, then the club head is out of the sequence in the downswing and force the lead arm to chicken wing. We have to be very careful in making conclusions which causes the chicken winging, because it can be very simple cause such as too heavy or to stiff clubs. The best solution is to leave the analysis and concluding to experienced golf coach.
